You have now determined the model of your 1886 Winchester. If you have a Sporting Rifle you will next need to determine if you have a standard or deluxe/fancy version, takedown, and/or lightweight. Both Standard and Deluxe versions had lightweight models. If you have a Carbine, you might have a 'Trapper' version.
Step 2: Determine the Sporting Model variation type
Select one of the following choices

| The barrel is 26", the frame is solid, the caliber is LESS THAN than .45-70 (e.g., .33 WCF, .38-56 WCF, .40-65 WCF, .40-82 WCF), and the stock is straight with no checkering -- You have the Extra Lightweight Sporting Standard version. | ||||
